Francis Gary Powers Jr., founder of The Cold War Museum in Fairfax, Va., will discuss the Cold War in Alaska, his museum and the famous U-2 incident in which his father was shot down over the Soviet Union in 1960 in his keynote address at the National Nike Veteran Reunion in Anchorage. The dinner featuring Powers begins at 5:30 p.m. Sept. 12 at the Anchorage Sheraton Hotel. The event is in the middle of a three-day reunion sponsored by Friends of Nike Site Summit, a 2-year-old group formed to preserve the Cold War missile site that overlooks Anchorage.
